GENERAL OVERVIEW

Graphite is an excellent refractory material. Used in applications featuring low oxygen levels or inert atmospheres, it can remain stable up to around 3000°C (5432°F).

The traditional demand for Graphite products comes from the steel industry. It is used to make liner bricks used in blast furnaces, liners for ladles and crucibles, and electrodes used in steel recycling.

More recent demand has come from the EV Battery industry, Graphite being used both as a component in batteries, and also to make saggars for anode/cathode material production. The Powder Metallurgy industry uses graphite plates and discs which can be made thinner than equivalent products made from other materials. Graphite is also used to make components for graphite kilns and vacuum furnaces, as well as dry lubricants.

IPS Ceramics has experience manufacturing components for graphite and vacuum furnaces, including tubes, boats, saggars, lids and trays. All of our products can be designed and manufactured to your exact requirements and desires.

Graphite can be easily machined, allowing us to produce complicated products to tight tolerances.
